Writing Events on Your Swimmer’s Arm
To help your swimmer stay organized during a meet, we suggest writing their event details directly on their forearm or hand using a dark permanent marker like a Sharpie® (body paint is NOT allowed). This makes it easy for them to keep track of their events, heats, and lanes throughout the day.
Here’s how to do it:
- Refer to the heat sheet for your swimmer’s events.
- Use a marker to draw a simple table with the headers:
E = Event, H = Heat, L = Lane - Fill in the corresponding numbers for each event, along with the stroke and distance.
- For relays, you can note which leg your swimmer is swimming (e.g., “100 Free Relay – #2”).
- Write the info on your swimmer’s arm before applying sunscreen and allow it to dry completely.
Example:
If your swimmer is in Event 6 (50 Freestyle), Heat 4, Lane 4, the entry would look like:
E: 6 | H: 4 | L: 4 | 50 Free
This simple method helps swimmers feel confident and stay on track during busy meet days!
