IMPORTANT - IntraSquad QuaranSwim Virtual Meet 6/11 SIGN UP ASAP!
Hi Shark Families!
Thursday 6/11 at 5pm is our first ever official IntraSquad QuaranSwim Virtual Meet!
Please declare your intent for your swimmer(s) to participate in the meet and if you are participating, sign up for a volunteer position.
So How Do I Sign My Swimmer Up for a Meet?
You’ll need to log in to Swimtopia and click the Meets & Events Signups tab. PLEASE READ “SIGNUP INSTRUCTIONS” BEFORE GOING TO THE SIGNUP CALENDAR. If you will not be at a meet, you must declare that you are not attending the meet. YOU MUST DECLARE YOUR INTENT TO SWIM BY MIDNIGHT THIS SATURDAY!
Um, What Does an IntraSquad QuaranSwim Virtual Meet Look Like?
Well, it will look different...keep in mind this is uncharted shark waters and we are doing everything we can to make it all work out for the very best! Here's what we know:
- We will not be hosting another team in person - it will just be our team swimming for safety reasons.
- There will be NO cars or golf carts in the parking lot as we will be using it for families to tailgate in. You will be able to drop your swimmer / tailgating items off using the Briar Creek Rd cul de sac.
- Parking will be available at Covenant United Methodist Church.
- No pool chairs or tailgate chairs allowed on the pool deck, except for our swimmers.
- We suggest parents enter the pool ONLY to watch their swimmer.
- No concessions. Pack LOTS of concession type snacks because that's why your kids want to come to meets.
- Spirit Event - After the meet on Thursday night, there will be a pool party. The party will not begin until the pool deck is put back together (which should be easy this year!). Please stay to help and let the kids swim.
Thinking a virtual intrasquad meet might be boring? Think again! There will be a “Blue” team and a “Yellow” team facing off each virtual meet. Relays? Of course! Official times? YES! Friendly Competition? You bet!
While it will just be us Sharks at the pool, we plan to set the meets up this way so that it feels more like a normal Thursday night of SAIL competition.
Volunteers
You want a front row seat for this summer’s swim meets...Volunteering gets you the best spot on the deck and right in the middle of all the action. Staying with SAIL’s recommendations we will have a VERY limited number of volunteer spots this season. Each lane will have only one timer and recorder. We will need clerk of course, tent parents, ribbons, one runner and a couple of floaters. We are planning on having volunteers work the entire meet since it will probably be shorter than one half of a regular meet and we can keep from spreading germs.
If you are interested in volunteering at all this season, you need to get certified by taking the appropriate test on the Swimtopia website. THIS MUST BE DONE BY MONDAY, JUNE 8th. This would include timers, recorders, and officials.
If you have any questions about this new and exciting way of conducting meets, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Thanks!
