SAIL Update
SAIL update April 23, 2020
Greetings to all of our swimmers, parents, volunteers and coaches!
As everyone knows, this is NOT how the swim season is supposed to start! The current public health situation in our country, in our world, has created an atmosphere of extreme uncertainty. The only certainty is that the Gamecocks will probably stink in football again next year. Ha ha, I hope everyone can still have a good laugh.
Here is what we do know about the upcoming swim season:
- It will definitely not start on time
- In addition, the end of the season will probably be later than planned (but no later than July 25)
SAIL’s intention is to SAFELY hold as much of a complete season as possible. Currently, DHEC is not allowing pools to be open. We know individual communities will have their own conversations about access to their pools regardless of regulatory approvals.
Both SAIL and Sugar Creek want to have a safe swim season. Our leaders are in constant communication; processing information and trying to commit to a start date and proposed schedule. In the meantime, please do the following:
- Register your swimmers. Registration numbers are important for us to plan appropriately. Late fees will apply beginning June 1st. If the season is canceled, refunds will of course be given.
- Complete officials training (when it becomes available).
As we move forward, please know that our SCR swim board is making plans to have a safe, great swim season. Our thoughts are with ALL of our neighbors as we try to safely navigate this unprecedented event. We hope to see everyone at the pool soon!
